The homes in Palmas Pacifica:

  • Bamboo furniture: The Bamboo from Costa Rica delivers high quality furniture with 100% locally grown and sustainable resources. The goal is to create eco-friendly interiors using locally made tropical home furnishings.
  • Low-flow toilet: Low-flow toilets are specifically designed to use less water during each flush. It makes simple sense by conserving a natural resource used for routine and mundane tasks. Water is still an under-valued resource but general understanding of its importance is growing. Estimates show that a low-flow toilet may consume less than two gallons of water per flush compared to five or more gallons with "old" technology toilets.
  • Use renewable or reclaimed materials: Using reclaimed materials is the ultimate sustainable option in most cases. Salvaging materials that would otherwise be destined for a landfill and instead extending their lifecycle, conserves raw materials, cuts pollution and reduces energy use.
  • Fluorescent lamp: This is a very good energy-efficient lighting option. All fluorescent lights require some amount of mercury to be able to function. Fluorescent lamps save energy and actually has a net reduction in mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants. Moreover, it has efficiency results in lower emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants.
  • Built with products that are manufactured free of toxic chemicals. Toxic chemicals are harming our environment. As Manuel Antonio Estate homes are located in nature, the construction with products that are manufactured free of toxic chemicals is an obligation.
  • Minimize waste during the construction which is more cost effective: Waste prevention is even more beneficial than recycling. Activities that prevent waste production, such as reusing building materials, not only cut garbage and recycling collection costs but also reduces expenses for materials. Small changes to building practices and extra attention to detail can add up to significant savings to the builder, the homebuyer and the environment.
  • Use solar panels which use light energy from the sun to generate electricity and hot water through the photovoltaic effect. It makes use of renewable energy from the sun, and offers a clean and environmentally safe means of collecting solar energy.
  • Recycling programs: Plastic, cans and glasses will be recycled. Well-run recycling programs cost less to operate than waste collection, landfilling, and incineration, plus they protect the environment.
  • Rainwater Harvesting: The rain will be reused for gardening and cleaning. This a good way to save water.
  • Use of large roof and ventilation to keep the home fresh.
